Surprise indie hit Vampire Survivors was quietly released on Apple’s App Store and Google’s Google Play Store on Thursday. The went game was spotted on both stores before the mobile launch was announced at The Game Awards on Thursday night.
Vampire Survivors is free on both platforms and can be played in both vertical and horizontal modes.
Interestingly enough, one of the mechanics in this F2P version of Vampire Survivors is the option to view ads. It looks like the ad option lets you get a revive, at the cost of watching a mobile game ad. Truly nothing in the vampire afterlife is free, I guess.
Poncle is proud to proclaim that this is a "100% free, for real" version of Vampire Survivors on iOS, but there is one catch: you can optionally watch an ad to get a free revive or score some extra gold, two options that can be incredibly appealing if you just screwed up a 30-minute run.
Vampire Survivors became a massive hit this year after being released into early access in 2021, making the fourth spot on Polygon’s game of the year list. The game continues to grow in popularity, and has made its way to a number of different platforms — Mac, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. On PC, the game costs $4.99, but Vampire Survivors is also available as part of Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription services for no additional cost.
That’s not all the Vampire Survivors in store for 2022, either. Poncle is releasing its first DLC for Survivors next week. Dubbed Legacy of the Moonspell, it will add a new map, characters, weapons, and more.
